Kameron Loe

6/21/2006

Loe was placed on the 15-day disabled list by Texas on Tuesday with a bone bruise in his right elbow. Loe said the bruise came from excessive weight lifting in the offseason. To take his spot, the Rangers recalled Freddy Guzman from Triple-A Oklahoma.

Less than a week after being hit in the head by a line drive, Loe will take the mound for the Texas Rangers on Tuesday. The rookie righthander, who is 9-5 with a 3.39 ERA in 40 relief appearances and six starts this season, will face the Mariners in Seattle. He is 4-1 with a 2.36 ERA since moving into the Texas rotation in late August.

Loe left the Rangers' Wednesday night game against the Los Angeles Angels in the fourth inning after being hit in the head by Vladimir Guerrero's line drive. He instinctively crouched and put up his glove to shield his face, but the ball hit him in the head and caromed to shortstop Michael Young, who caught it on the fly.

On Friday, Loe was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma after the Texas Rangers designated lefthander Matt Riley for assignment. Loe was 2-1 with a 5.08 ERA in five starts for Oklahoma.

Loe, who pitched in two games for Texas in 2004, will make his 2005 debut out of the bullpen. He made one start and one relief appearance for the Rangers a year ago, posting a 5.40 ERA in 6.2 innings.
