The Tampa Bay Devil Rays have claimed Rose off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers. The 29-year-old catcher hit .209 in 15 games for the Dodgers after spending most of the season at Triple-A Las Vegas, where he hit .259 with five homers and 36 RBI in 69 games.

The Dodgers recalled Rose from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday. The catcher is batting just .211 in 13 games with the Dodgers this season.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have purchased Rose's contract from Triple-A Las Vegas. The catcher will take over as the team's primary backup behind starter Jason Phillips, replacing Dioner Navarro, who was optioned to the minor league club on Monday. The 28-year-old Rose has appeared in just two major league contests -- with Oakland last year.
