Chris Snyder

5/29/2005

It appears that Snyder has claimed the Arizona starting catcher job over fellow rookie Koyie Hill, who was optioned to Triple-A Tucson.

4/19/2005

As the season moves deep into its first month, Snyder seems to be gaining an advantage over fellow rookie Koyie Hill in the Arizona battle for playing time behind the plate. Snyder is 11-for-31 (.355) with five runs scored in nine games, and he seems to be playing two games to every one for Hill. Hill has appeared in six games and is off to a 2-for-15 start (.133) with a pair of RBI.

It's early yet, but it works to Snyder's advantage that his catching skills are more advanced. If Snyder keeps hitting, Hill will have trouble getting him out of the Arizona lineup.
