To make room for Tampa Bay's starter on Sunday, Seth McClung, the Devil Rays optioned Nunez to Triple-A Durham after a two-week stay with the major league club. In five relief appearances for the Rays, the 28-year-old Nunez was 1-0 with a 10.80 ERA over five frames.

The Devil Rays called up Nunez from Triple-A Durham on Sunday, a move that coincided with the placement of Jesus Colome on the 15-day DL. Nunez, who began the year on the DL before being sent down to Durham, worked in eight games for Tampa Bay in 2004, posting an 0-3 record and a 5.91 ERA.

Nunez, who started the season on the major league disabled list, was activated by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays and optioned to Triple-A Durham over the weekend. The 28-year-old righthander didn't pitch for the Rays this season, though he was 0-3 with a 5.91 ERA in eight relief appearances last season.
