Brad Hennessey

5/15/2006

The San Francisco Chronicle is reporting that Hennessey will return to the Giants' rotation Monday night. He gets the start ahead of rookie Matt Cain, who has been struggling most of the season. Hennessey worked two scoreless innings in relief last week against the Cubs, and is 2-1 with a 3.08 ERA in four starts and a relief appearance this season.

Hennessey pitched seven innings of three-hit shutout ball and punctuated his victory with his first major league home run, a three-run jack that accounted for all the scoring in the 3-0 win over the Milwaukee Brewers.

Making his first appearance for the Giants since June 2, Hennessey blanked the Cardinals on three hits over seven innings enroute to a 2-0 victory.

After failing to make it past the third inning in his last two starts, Hennessey has been optioned to Triple-A Fresno by the San Francisco Giants. The 25-year-old righthander, who will be replaced on the roster by veteran reliever Al Levine, has made five starts with the Giants this season, going 2-2 with a 6.75 ERA.

Hennessey was recalled from Triple-A Fresno in time to take the mound for the Giants in Thursday's matchup with the Houston Astros. The righthander notched his second win of the season, allowing three runs on six hits over six innings, finishing with seven strikeouts and three walks. He will remain in the rotation at least until staff ace Jason Schmidt is able to return from injury.

In two starts with the Giants this season, Hennessey is 2-0 with a 4.15 ERA. He has 13 strikeouts in 13 innings, but has walked five batters and surrendered five home runs over that span as well. Veteran reliever Al Levine was placed on the 15-day disabled list to make room on the roster for Hennessey.

Hennessey, who made a spot start for San Francisco over the weekend, has been optioned back to Triple-A Fresno by the Giants, opening a roster spot for fellow righthander Jeremy Accardo. Hennessey notched the victory in Sunday's win over the Pittsburgh Pirates, allowing three runs on five hits in seven innings. He struck out six and walked two.

Hennessey will return to Fresno's starting rotation. He should see some time with the Giants later this season.

Hennessey has been recalled from Triple-A Fresno by the San Francisco Giants. The righthander, who takes the roster spot of demoted reliever Scott Munter, is scheduled to take the mound against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday. He made seven starts for the Giants last year, going 2-2 with a 4.98 ERA.

In four starts with the minor league club this season, Hennessey was 1-1 with a 2.45 ERA.
