Bucky Jacobsen

5/11/2005

Jacobsen will have exploratory arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Friday, in search of a reason why the knee isn't 100-percent healthy after having a defect in the articular cartilage repaired last September. The Mariners' DH-first baseman has made little progress rehabbing from surgery this spring and continues to limp when he runs.

Jacobsen made his major league debut last season and batted .275 with nine home runs and 28 RBI in 42 games. He hasn't played in a game this spring, whether a spring exhibition game or minor league contest. The Mariners placed him on the 60-day disabled list on March 31, before the season began.
