Tim Olson

6/20/2005

Olson has been designated for assignment by the Colorado Rockies, opening a spot on the roster for veteran reliever Dan Miceli. The infielder has seen just three plate appearances with the Rockies this season, striking out twice and drawing a walk.

Olson's stint with the Colorado Rockies lasted less than a week, as the Rocks optioned Olson back to Triple-A Colorado Springs on Sunday. The move was made to bring up first-base prospect Ryan Shealy, who is expected to get some DH at-bats this week. Colorado is visiting Cleveland and Baltimore over the next seven days.

The Colorado Rockies have recalled Olson from Triple-A Colorado Springs, filling the roster spot of shortstop Clint Barmes, who will miss about three months after breaking his collarbone. Olson was batting .298 with eight home runs, 35 RBI and eight stolen bases in 53 games with the minor league club this season.
