Brad Hawpe

9/1/2005

Hawpe, out since mid-July with a hamstring injury, was activated from the disabled list Thursday by the Colorado Rockies. The power prospect was hitting .295 with eight doubles, eight homers, 39 RBI and a .368 on-base percentage in 75 games when he was injured.

Hawpe tried to run the bases at about 70 percent speed on Monday and felt some minor discomfort in his strained left hamstring. The Rockies' outfielder, who has been sidelined since July 9 with the injury, will receive more treatment on Tuesday before testing things out again on Wednesday. Prior to his stint on the disabled list, Hawpe was batting .295 with eight home runs, 39 RBI and two stolen bases in 75 games this season.

The Colorado Rockies placed Hawpe on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday with a strained left hamstring he suffered on Saturday. The move was retroactive to July 10. The rookie outfielder was batting .295 with eight home runs and 39 RBI in 75 games this season.

Hawpe suffered a strained left hamstring in the fifth inning of Saturday's game against the Padres, and was forced out of the game.

While Dustan Mohr is due back soon from a stint on the disabled list for a calf strain, Hawpe has heated up and will make it difficult to pull him from the Rockies' lineup in right field. The 25-year-old rookie has batted .474 (9-for-19) in his last six games, delivering a double and three homers, good for six runs scored and six RBI.

Hawpe begins the new week with a six-game hitting streak and a .366 average in 17 contests. He has collected 10 RBI on the season.
