Kazuhito Tadano

7/17/2005

After making his 2005 season debut in Saturday's loss to the Chicago White Sox, Tadano has been optioned back to Triple-A Buffalo by the Cleveland Indians. The righthander, who allowed one run on four hits in four innings of work, will be replaced in the bullpen by 21-year-old Fausto Carmona.

The Indians recalled Tadano from Triple-A Buffalo before Saturday's contest against the Chicago White Sox. He will take the roster spot of Matt Miller, who went on the 15-day disabled list with tightness in his right forearm. Tadano had been with the Indians very briefly earlier this month, but did not appear in a game. He is 3-4 with a 4.54 ERA in 22 games at Buffalo on the year.

Tadano, who was recalled on Sunday to replace injured reliever Rafael Betancourt, was returned to Triple-A Buffalo Monday to make room for Jason Davis, the Game 2 starter in Cleveland's July 4 doubleheader with Detroit. The righthanded Tadano didn't make an appearance with Cleveland, and has yet to appear in a major league game this season. He is 3-3 with a 4.13 ERA as a swingman this season for Buffalo.

On Sunday, the Cleveland Indians placed Rafael Betancourt on the 15-day disabled list with a sore shoulder and recalled Tadano to take Betancourt's spot in the Tribe bullpen. Tadano is 3-3 with a 4.13 ERA as a swingman this season at Buffalo.
