Jackson was recalled from Triple-A Durham by the Devil Rays on Friday and will start Saturday against the Texas Rangers. As a result, Tampa Bay optioned right-hander Jason Childers to Durham. Childers, who pitched a scoreless inning Friday against the Rangers, was 0-1 with a 4.70 ERA in five appearances.

Jackson and fellow pitching prospect Chuck Tiffany were traded to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays Saturday, in exchange for veteran relievers Danys Baez and Lance Carter. One of the Dodgers' top pitching prospects, Jackson hasn't fared well in his major league trials, posting a 6-4 record and 5.50 ERA in 19 games (14 starts) over parts of three seasons.

Jackson will make his 2005 major league debut when he takes the mound against the Florida Marlins on Monday. The righthander was recalled from Double-A Jacksonville to replace lefthander Odalis Perez, who is out with a strained oblique muscle. In 10 starts at Jacksonville, Jackson was 6-4 with a 3.39 ERA.
