After giving up four runs in his most recent outing, Geary has been optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre by the Philadelphia Phillies. The righthander has made 28 relief appearances this season, going 1-1 with a 4.15 ERA.

Geary has been activated from the 15-day disabled list by the Philadelphia Phillies, replacing the demoted Clay Condrey on the roster. The righthander missed a couple of weeks after bruising his right eye when he fouled off a pitch in a game against the Washington Nationals on July 8.

Geary will miss the remainder of this weekend's series with the Washington Nationals after the reliever was struck in the right eye by the ball while batting Friday night. "My eyeball was in shock," Gearysaid. "My doctor stressed I don't want to get hit in the eyeagain."

Geary was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to replace Gavin Floyd in the Philadelphia bullpen. Geary made 33 relief appearances for the Phils in 2004, posting a 5.33 ERA over 44.2 innings.
