Jason Ellison

9/13/2005

Ellison has been nursing an oblique strain that has kept him from getting an at-bat since August 31. The rookie outfielder said Monday that he still feels the injury when he swings a bat or plays defensively. Ellison has played in the field, but he has been limited to hitting soft-toss pitches on the sidelines. He is expected to take batting practice in the next day or two.

The San Francisco Giants recalled Ellison from Triple-A Fresno Sunday. The 27-year-old outfielder has spent most of the season with the Giants, batting .277 with a .331 on-base percentage in 112 games. He returns to take the roster spot vacated by traded outfielder Michael Tucker.
