Oscar Villarreal

12/7/2005

The Arizona Diamondbacks have traded Villarreal and Lance Cormier to the Atlanta Braves in exchange for catcher Johnny Estrada. The right-hander missed the bulk of the 2005 campaign with a strained rotator cuff in his pitching shoulder. He finished the season 2-0 with a 5.27 ERA in 11 relief outings.

The Diamondbacks activated Villarreal from the 60-day disabled list on Friday. The pitcher had been sidelined since early April with a strained rotator cuff in his pitching shoulder. He has appeared in just two games this season, posting a 0-0 record with one save and a 6.75 ERA.
