Willie Bloomquist

8/31/2005

Bloomquist finally was getting regular playing time with the departure of Bret Boone, but the Mariners' utilityman was placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with a strained left hamstring. He left Monday's game against the Yankees in the fourth inning after hurting his hamstring while running down the first-base line. He is batting .257 with a .289 on-base percentage in 249 at-bats this season.

Bloomquist, getting a start at second base for Seattle on Monday, had to leave the game with a strained left hamstring. He was replaced by rookie shortstop and budding utilityman Mike Morse.
