Pedro Feliz

8/17/2005

Feliz finished a home run shy of hitting for the cycle in Tuesday's win over the Cincinnati Reds, but recorded a career high for hits in a game. The Giants' outfielder/third baseman was perfect at the plate on the night, going 5-for-5 with two doubles, a triple and four runs scored.

With Edgardo Alfonzo placed on the disabled list Monday for a quadriceps injury, Feliz will move from the outfield to third base to cover for the ailing third baseman. Prospect Todd Linden will take over in left for Feliz. The 30-year-old veteran is hitting .265 with eight home runs and 35 RBI for the Giants this season.

Going into Wednesday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers, Feliz had been in a mini slump, notching just one hit in his previous 19 at-bats. The Giants' utilityman got back on track, going 2-for-4 with a pair of home runs and four RBI in a 10-2 victory. It was the fifth multihomer game of his major league career.

Feliz hit a grand slam and knocked in a career-high five runs in Friday's game against the Colorado Rockies.

Feliz is off to a strong start this season, batting .342 with 13 RBI.
