John Riedling

Riedling has signed a minor league contract with the St. Louis Cardinals. The 30-year-old right-hander, who split last season between the Florida Marlins and their Triple-A affiliate in Albuquerque, posted a 4-1 record and 7.16 in 29 relief appearances with the major league club.

The Florida Marlins placed Riedling on the 15-day disabled list Monday with tendinitis in his right shoulder. The 30-year-old righthander is 4-1 with a 7.16 ERA in 29 relief appearances for the Marlins this season. The Marlins recalled righthander Chris Resop to replace Riedling in the Marlins' bullpen.

Two weeks after Riedling was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque, the 29-year-old righthander was returned there Sunday to make room for trade acquisition Ron Villone. Riedling has struggled in 28 games with the Marlins this year, going 4-1 with a 6.33 ERA.

Riedling has been recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque by the Florida Marlins. The veteran righthander takes the roster spot of 22-year-old Chris Resop, who was optioned to Double-A Carolina on Sunday.

Riedling has been optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque by the Florida Marlins, opening a spot on the roster for Josh Beckett, who was activated from the 15-day disabled list in time to take the mound against the Atlanta Braves on Thursday. In 23 relief appearances with the Marlins this season, Riedling is 4-1 with a 7.04 ERA.
