To make room for Jaret Wright's return to the New York rotation Monday, the Yankees optioned Franklin to Triple-A Columbus. In nine relief appearances for New York, the veteran righthander was 0-1 with a 5.63 ERA.

With Kevin Brown again going on the disabled list, the Yankees recalled Franklin from Triple-A Columbus. Franklin, who was just sent down to Columbus last week, is 0-1 with a 12.27 ERA in five relief appearances for New York in 2005.

Franklin, who was recalled when the Yankees cut loose Paul Quantrill and Mike Stanton at the end of June, wasn't the answer. The 31-year-old southpaw was optioned to Triple-A Columbus Wednesday after going 0-1 with a 12.27 ERA in five appearances for New York. To replace Franklin, the Yankees recalled southpaw Alex Graman from Columbus.

The New York Yankees recalled Franklin from Triple-A Columbus Thursday after designating relievers Mike Stanton and Paul Quantrill for assignment. In the Columbus bullpen, Franklin was 2-2 with a save and a 4.13 ERA in 38 relief appearances. The lefthander had fanned 39 in 32.2 Triple-A innings.
