Jake Westbrook

6/1/2006

Westbrook became the first pitcher this season to shutout the White Sox after the Cleveland right-hander allowed only six hits, five of which were singles, through six innings. He did not walk a batter and struck out five.

8/24/2005

Westbrook won for the sixth time in his last seven starts as the Indians topped the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, 5-4, Tuesday night. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Indians, who now trail the Chicago White Sox by seven games in the AL Central, and are in a virtual tie with the New York Yankees for the wild card spot.

7/27/2005

Westbrook tossed seven innings of two-hit shutout ball against the Oakland A's, en route to a 2-0 victory Tuesday night. The Indians' righthander has not allowed an earned run in his last two starts, spanning 14 innings.

4/4/2005

Westbrook went the distance for the Cleveland Indians in Monday's season opener against the Chicago White Sox, notching the seventh complete game of his major league career. The righthander allowed just one run on four hits, but was outdueled by Mark Buehrle, and the Indians' lost the game 1-0. Westbrook finished with three strikeouts and one walk.

Definitely a promising start to the 2005 campaign for the 27-year-old Westbrook. He went 14-9 with a 3.38 ERA and five complete games in 33 appearances last season, including 30 starts.
