Adam Eaton

7/3/2006

Eaton will begin a rehab assignment after throwing a simulated game on Sunday. The right-hander underwent surgery on April 4 after re-injuring the middle finger on his pitching hand and has missed the entire season. He felt no pain after throwing 30 pitches on Sunday.

Eaton will undergo surgery Tuesday to repair the tendon in the middle finger of his pitching hand. The right-hander, who has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, is expected to miss as much as three months of the season. He left his final spring start Wednesday with pain in his right middle finger.

Eaton has a strained tendon in the middle finger on his pitching hand, the same injury that put him on the disabled list twice last season with San Diego. Eaton is all but certain to land on the disabled list to start the new season, but exactly how long he'll be lost to the team is uncertain. The 28-year-old right-hander, who was injured while pitching on Wednesday, was expected to meet with team doctors Friday night about his injury, and surgery is an option.

3/30/2006

Eaton left his final spring start Wednesday with pain in his right middle finger. Discomfort in the same finger, caused by a tendon strain, landed the Texas right-hander on the disabled list for two months last season. Pitching for San Diego, he spent two different stints on the DL between June and August. An MRI exam was scheduled for late Wednesday.

3/21/2006

Eaton left his Sunday start for Texas during the second inning after taking a line drive off his forearm. The Rangers' right-hander was feeling much better on Monday, but the team is holding off for a day or two before deciding if he will be ready for his next start.

1/17/2006

Eaton and the Rangers agreed to a $4.65 million, one-year deal on Tuesday, avoiding salary arbitration. The right-hander was acquired from San Diego in a six-player deal on Dec. 20.

12/20/2005

Eaton was traded to the Texas Rangers on Tuesday as part of a six-player deal. The 28-year-old was 11-5 with a 4.27 ERA for San Diego last year, but pitched only 128 2/3 innings due to a middle finger strain.

According to Padres manager Bruce Bochy, Eaton likely will be activated from the 15-day disabled list in time to take the mound against the Colorado Rockies on Friday. After missing nearly two months with a strained flexor tendon in his right middle finger, the righthander has been working on building his arm strength in the minor leagues. In 16 appearances this season, including 14 starts, Eaton is 9-2 with a 3.76 ERA.

8/10/2005

Eaton has pitched out of the bullpen for the Padres recently as he works his way back from a strained flexor tendon in his right middle finger. However, in hopes of getting him back in the rotation for the stretch run, the team has placed the righthander back on the 15-day disabled list to give him a chance to get some extended outings under his belt in the minor leagues. Eaton is expected to make one start at Class-A Lake Elsinore and two starts for Triple-A Portland.

8/1/2005

The San Diego Padres activated Eaton from the 15-day disabled list after Sunday's loss to the Cincinnati Reds. The 27-year-old righthander has not pitched since June 15, suffering from a strained flexor tendon in his right middle finger. Although he has a slider, Eaton has been unable to use his curveball because of the finger. It's a pitch he won't be able to call on again until next season.

7/29/2005

Eaton enjoyed a strong bullpen session yesterday, and could be activated from the disabled list as soon as next week. He has not pitched since June 15, suffering from a strained flexor tendon in his right middle finger. For the year, he has posted a 9-2 record with a 3.42 ERA in 14 starts.

7/18/2005

Because of some lingering discomfort in his right middle finger, Eaton received a cortisone shot on Sunday, according to Padres manager Bruce Bochy. The righthander, who has been sidelined for more than a month with a strained tendon in the digit, will be re-evaluated later this week, once the swelling has subsided. He continues to be listed as day-to-day.

7/9/2005

The San Diego Union Tribune is reporting Eaton likely will not return to the Padres' rotation until the second week after the All-Star break. Although the pitcher's injured finger has improved, there is still some tenderness in the area.

7/5/2005

Eaton had hoped to be activated from the 15-day disabled list in time to take the mound against the Houston Astros on Tuesday, but the Padres have decided to give him a little more time to recover. The righthander, who has been sidelined since June 15 with a strained flexor tendon in the middle finger of his pitching hand, received a cortisone shot over the weekend, and he'll likely be held out until after the All-Star break.

7/2/2005

After a bullpen session on Friday that saw him throw curveballs as well as fastball, Eaton is hopeful but uncertain whether he will be able to start on July 5, the date tentatively slated as his return from the disabled list. Eaton said he felt discomfort, but no pain, in his injured middle finger, after Friday's session.

After a bullpen session on Friday in which he threw curveballs as well as fastballs, Eaton is hopeful though uncertain whether he will be able to start on July 5, the date tentatively slated as his return from the disabled list. Eaton said he felt some discomfort, but no significant pain, in his injured middle finger after Friday's session.

6/30/2005

According to Padres manager Bruce Bochy, as long as Eaton continues to progress on schedule, he'll likely be activated in time to take the mound against the Houston Astros next Tuesday. The righthander, who has been sidelined since June 15 with a strained flexor tendon in the middle finger of his pitching hand, has won seven of his last nine starts.

6/22/2005

Eaton has been placed on the 15-day disabled list by the San Diego Padres, retroactive to June 16. The righthander already has missed one start with a strained flexor tendon in the middle finger of his pitching hand, and he was expected to be skipped the next time through the rotation as well. If Eaton continues to show progress, the club is optimistic that he will be ready to be activated when eligible early next month.

Eaton had been optimistic that he would be ready to return to the mound as early as Friday, but according to Padres' manager Bruce Bochy, the righthander will miss at least one more start and could land on the 15-day disabled list. An MRI on the strained flexor tendon in Eaton's right finger revealed no serious damage, and he currently is listed as day-to-day.

6/21/2005

After an MRI revealed no serious damage to the strained flexor tendon in his right finger, Eaton played catch without any problems at PETCO Park on Monday. The righthander has been sidelined since suffering the injury last Wednesday in Detroit, but if all goes well in a scheduled bullpen session on Tuesday, he could be back on the mound as early as Friday. He will be re-evaluated after Tuesday's workout.

6/17/2005

The Padres are reporting that Eaton will definitely miss his next start with a strained flexor tendon in his right middle finger. Eaton didn't make it through the second inning in his last start, and will be replaced in the rotation, tentatively, by Darrell May.

6/16/2005

While throwing a pitch in the second inning of San Diego's loss to Detroit on Wednesday, Eaton experienced a cracking sound and then his right middle finger started swelling. The swollen finger was painful and Eaton left the game. The injury isn't considered serious, but the Padres' righthander may miss his next start on Monday against the Dodgers.
