After being demoted to Triple-A Las Vegas over the weekend, Carlyle has been designated for assignment by the Los Angeles Dodgers. In two stints with the major league club this season, the righthander has posted an 8.36 ERA over 10 relief appearances.

Carlyle was shipped back to Triple-A Las Vegas, after making one appearance since he call-up four days ago. He leaves the Dodgers with an 8.36 ERA in 10 appearances this year.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have recalled Carlyle from Triple-A Las Vegas, filling the roster spot of starter Odalis Perez, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday. Carlyle began the 2005 campaign in the Dodgers' bullpen, but was demoted after posting an 8.18 ERA in nine relief appearances.

A day after being demoted to Triple-A Las Vegas, Carlyle has been designated for assignment by the Los Angeles Dodgers. The move opens a spot on the 40-man roster for utilityman Mike Edwards, whose contract was purchased from the minor league club on Wednesday. In nine appearances this season, the righthander has posted an 8.18 ERA, striking out 10 and walking three in 11 innings of work. He has allowed three home runs over that span.

The Dodgers will have 10 days to trade Carlyle, release him or send him outright to the minor leagues.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have optioned Carlyle to Triple-A Las Vegas, opening a spot on the roster for veteran lefthander Wilson Alvarez. In nine appearances this season, the righthander has posted an 8.18 ERA, striking out 10 and walking three in 11 innings of work. He has allowed three home runs over that span.

According to manager Jim Tracy, Carlyle will step into the starting rotation with Las Vegas, despite pitching in relief for the Dodgers.
