David Cortes

7/7/2005

Cortes has been optioned to Triple-A Colorado Springs by the Colorado Rockies, opening a spot on the roster for fellow righthander Mike DeJean, who signed a one-year contract with the team on Thursday. In 21 relief appearances for Colorado this season, Cortes is 1-0 with a 5.31 ERA.

The Colorado Rockies have purchased Cortes' contract from Triple-A Colorado Springs. The righthander, who was one of the last demotions during spring training, has gone 1-0 with a 4.30 ERA and one save in 11 relief appearances with the minor league club this season. He takes the roster spot of outfielder Michael Restovich.

It probably isn't a good move to have any Rockies pitchers on your fantasy squad, let alone a middle reliever. No need to consider picking up Cortes.
