Daubach has signed a minor league contract with the St. Louis Cardinals. The veteran first baseman/outfielder spent the majority of the 2005 campaign with the Mets' Triple-A affiliate in Norfolk, batting .325 with 16 home runs and 62 RBIs in 99 games.

The New York Mets placed infielder Miguel Cairo on the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday, and they recalled Daubach to take Cairo's spot on the 25-man roster. Daubach was tearing up Triple-A pitching with a .356 average at Triple-A Norfolk.
