Matt Clement

7/30/2006

Clement, on the 15-day DL since June 15 with a shoulder strain, threw 60 to 65 pitches on a side session and felt no pain. "He'll do it again Monday," Boston manager Terry Francona said.

7/5/2006

Clement's first minor league rehabilitation start with the Gulf Coast League Red Sox lasted just one inning on Tuesday after he hurt his right biceps. The Boston right-hander has been on the 15-day disabled list since June 16 with a right shoulder strain. "He did go back out for the second inning and on the second warm-up pitch he walked off the mound," Red Sox manager Terry Francona said. "He felt some biceps soreness, so we immediately shut him down."

Clement was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Friday (retroactive to June 15) with a right shoulder strain. He was pulled with two outs in the fifth inning of Wednesday night's game, an 8-1 loss to the Minnesota Twins. Clement is 5-5 with a 6.61 ERA.

10/2/2005

Should the Red Sox meet Cleveland in a playoff game on Monday, manager Terry Francona has stated that Clement will be the team's starting pitcher.

7/29/2005

Clement could return to Boston's starting rotation as soon as Thursday. The 30-year-old righthander left the field on a stretcher at Tampa Bay on Tuesday night, when he was hit in the head by a line drive.

7/27/2005

Clement was released from the hospital on Wednesday, and will join the Red Sox on their trip to Boston.

7/9/2005

Clement was named to the American League All-Star team Saturday, replacing the injured Roy Halladay. Clement is 10-2 with a 3.85 ERA for the Boston Red Sox this season.

5/29/2005

Clement upped his record to a perfect 6-0 Saturday, tossing six shutout innings and striking out seven in a 17-1 lambasting of the New York Yankees, the largest winning margin by the Red Sox over their historic rivals.
