Seth Greisinger

6/13/2005

After being designated for assignment last week, Greisinger has been outrighted to Triple-A Richmond by the Atlanta Braves. The righthander came up to make a start on May 5, and he allowed seven hits and two runs over five innings in a no-decision against Pittsburgh. He is 3-4 with a 3.04 ERA in 12 starts for Richmond.

Greisinger has been designated for assignment by the Atlanta Braves, opening a spot on the roster for backup catcher Eddie Perez. The righthander, who was promoted over the weekend to fill in for the injured Mike Hampton, allowed two runs on seven hits over five innings of work and did not figure into the decision in Sunday's loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The Atlanta Braves have purchased Greisinger's contract from Triple-A Richmond in time for the righthander to take the mound against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday. Greisinger will fill the rotation and roster spot of veteran Mike Hampton, who landed back on the 15-day disabled list with tightness in his forearm.
