Geoff Jenkins

6/4/2006

Jenkins is listed as day-to-day after suffering a mild concussion he sustained after a collision in Sunday's 8-4 loss to the Washington Nationals. "I tried to shake it off," the Brewers right fielder said. "I just felt a little dizzy. I had a tough time getting my vision. I feel a little bit better ... we'll just see how it is (Monday)."

Jenkins was perfect at the plate in Thursday's victory over the New York Mets, notching five hits and recording a walk. The Brewers' outfielder, who also scored twice and drove in a run, has been solid over the past week, going 12-for-22 with four doubles, a triple, two home runs and seven RBI.

Jenkins extended his current hitting streak to a career-best 14 games, going 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBI in Thursday's victory over the St. Louis Cardinals. Over that span, the Brewers' outfielder has batted .451 (23-for-51) with five doubles, four home runs and 12 RBI.

Jenkins has hit safely in 14 of his last 15 games, including 11 straight. Since seeing his season batting average dip to .237 after an 0-for-3, three-strikeout performance against the Chicago Cubs on June 29, the Brewers' outfielder has gone 23-for-53 (.434) with eight doubles, three home runs and 12 RBI.

After sitting out the previous day to rest his bruised shin, Jenkins was back in the Milwaukee Brewers' lineup for Tuesday's meeting with the Florida Marlins. The outfielder was solid in his return, going 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and three runs scored.

Jenkins was in the Brewers' original starting lineup for Monday's meeting with the Florida Marlins, but manager Ned Yost decided to give the outfielder the day off to rest his bruised shin. The injury is considered minor, and Jenkins is expected to return to action within the next day or two. Chris Magruder got the nod in Jenkins' stead.

Jenkins was feeling a bit better on Wednesday, so he was back in the Brewers' lineup for a meeting with the Houston Astros. The outfielder, who had missed three of the team's previous four contests with a high fever and flu-like symptoms, went 0-for-3 in his return. He should be fine going forward.

Jenkins is off to a slow start this season, batting just .182 with one home run and two RBI in 11 games. He's struck out 12 times and walked twice in 44 at-bats.

After missing Saturday's game with a high fever and flu-like symptoms, Jenkins tried to give it a go on Sunday, but was forced to leave after seven innings. The ailments also kept the outfielder out of the Brewers' lineup for Monday and Tuesday's meetings with the Los Angeles Dodgers and currently has him listed as day-to-day.

Chris Magruder got the starting nod in right field in Jenkins' stead. Off to a slow start this season, Jenkins is batting .195 with one homer, two RBI and 10 strikeouts in 41 at-bats. He should be back in action within the next couple of days.

4/17/2005

Jenkins ran a high fever and sat out Milwaukee's 5-3 loss to St. Louis on Saturday. The Brewers' right fielder is day-to-day.

It would have aided Jenkins if Milwaukee had an off day on Monday, but the Dodgers follow the Cardinals into Miller Park to start a new series.
