The Cleveland Indians have exercised their $4 million option on Belliard for 2006. He hit 17 home runs with 78 RBIs in 2005, both career highs, while hitting .284.

Belliard belted his first career grand slam in the Indians' 12-4 victory over the Tampa Bay Devil Rays Thursday.

Belliard left Thursday's game after straining his neck when he collided headlong into umpire Eric Cooper while fielding a grounder. Precautionary X-rays were taken but proved negative.
