3/24/2006

Castro has been bothered by a wrist injury this spring, but the Twins' infielder played in a minor league game on Friday.

The Minnesota Twins activated Castro from the disabled list on Friday. The middle infielder had been out since mid-August with right knee tendinitis.

The Minnesota Twins placed Castro on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with right knee tendinitis.

8/11/2005

In Minnesota's 14-inning victory over Seattle on Wednesday, Castro twisted his knee rounding first after an eighth-inning single, and he departed for a pinch-runner. The Twins' infielder, who is batting .258 with a .279 on-base percentage in 80 games, is day-to-day.

6/24/2005

Castro broke out of an 0-for-23 slump with a second-inning single in Minnesota's 6-2 win over Detroit on Thursday. The Twins' shortstop is in a 3-for-30 rut, and in his last 18 games, he has just 10 hits in 58 at-bats (.172). For the season, Castro is batting .232 with a .257 on-base percentage.

6/21/2005

After missing three games with a bruised ankle, Castro was back in the Twins' lineup, starting at shortstop on Tuesday. Through 45 games this season, Castro is hitting .234 with 12 runs scored and 14 RBI.

6/17/2005

Castro fouled a pitch off his left ankle Thursday, and he left Minnesota's 14-7 loss to San Francisco early to get an X-ray. The results were negative, but the Twins' shortstop will be out a few days. Castro is batting .234 with a .261 on-base percentage in 45 games this season.

5/18/2005

Over the last week, Castro has emerged as the Twins' starting shortstop after rookie Jason Bartlett has struggled both offensively and defensively in May. Castro's defensive stability appeals to Minnesota manager Ron Gardenhire.

4/25/2005

Castro woke up with a stiff neck on Monday, and he was unable to play in Minnesota's Monday afternoon contest against Detroit. Castro was penciled in to start after rookie Jason Bartlett tore the fingernail off his left pinky finger on Sunday, but Nick Punto -- the only remaining shortstop on the roster -- got the call on Monday. Castro is day-to-day.
