Hector Carrasco

12/2/2005

Carrasco signed a $6.1 million, two-year contract with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Friday, with a club option for 2008. The 36-year-old righthander spent 2005 with the Washington Nationals, moving from the bullpen to the starting rotation. He made 59 relief appearances and was 1-1 with a 2.03 ERA in five starts for the Nationals.

The Washington Nationals have purchased Carrasco's contract from Triple-A New Orleans, filling the 25-man roster spot of fellow reliever T.J. Tucker, who is expected to miss the next 2-4 weeks with a strained groin. Carrasco made three appearances with the Nationals in spring training, going 1-0, allowing two unearned runs in 3.1 innings and notching a save.

Carrasco will pitch in middle relief. He has no fantasy value.
