The Indians reached an agreement to send Rhodes to the Phillies in exchange for outfielder Jason Michaels. According to the Associated Press, Rhodes is in Philadelphia taking a physical and the trade has not been finalized. In 47 games last season, the left-handed relief pitcher was 3-1 with a 2.08 ERA in 43.1 innings pitched. He missed most of the final two months for family reasons.

Indians relief pitcher Arthur Rhodes has left the club temporarily due to an illness in his family. The absence will cause Rhodes to miss the remainder of the season. Through 47 games this season, Rhodes was 3-1 with a 2.08 ERA in 43.1 innings pitched.

The Cleveland Indians activated Rhodes from the disabled list Friday, a little more than two weeks after he was sidelined by swelling and discomfort in his right knee. The Indians' reliever is 3-1 with a 1.98 ERA in 44 relief appearances in 2005.

The Cleveland Indians placed Rhodes on the 15-day disabled list Saturday, retroactive to August 12. The reliever, who was just removed from the bereavement list, went on the DL after having pain and swelling in his right knee following a bullpen session on Friday. To take his roster spot, Cleveland has recalled Jeremy Guthrie from Triple-A Buffalo.

Rhodes was reinstated from the bereavement list by the Cleveland Indians on Friday, and the move was made before the Indians host Tampa Bay in the opener of a weekend series. The 35-year-old lefthander is 3-1 with a 1.98 ERA in 44 relief appearances for Cleveland this season.

Home with an illness in the family, Rhodes is on bereavement leave from the Cleveland Indians, and he is expected to miss the entire series against Kansas City this week. His leave lasts until Saturday, August 13. The Indians recalled righthander Fernando Cabrera to take Rhodes' roster spot.
