Hansen was activated from the disabled list Tuesday, with rookie Chris Snelling being sent down to Triple-A Tacoma.

Excuse me. Check that. The Seattle Mariners have decided to hold off on activating Hansen from the disabled list and sending Chris Snelling back to Triple-A Tacoma. The move had been announced on Sunday, but it hadn't been turned in to the league office when the Mariners changed their minds. Hansen remains on the DL, though his left elbow reportedly is healthy.

After a two-week stay for tendinitis in his left elbow, Hansen came off the disabled list Sunday. The Seattle Mariners activated the pinch-hitter and optioned prospect Chris Snelling to Triple-A Tacoma to make room for Hansen's return. Hansen is 6-for-31 (.194) with seven RBI this season.

The Seattle Mariners placed Hansen on the 15-day disabled list on Sunday. The pinch-hitting specialist is out with tendinitis in his left elbow. Hansen is 6-for-31 (.194) with seven RBI this season. The Mariners recalled outfield prospect Chris Snelling to take Hansen's roster spot.

Among the best pinch-hitters of the last decade, Hansen was recalled by the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday. The 36-year-old veteran, cut by the Cubs near the end of spring training, had signed a minor league deal with the Mariners a week ago. He batted .300 with three RBI in six games at Triple-A Tacoma before getting recalled.

Hansen ranks fifth all-time in career pinch-hits (137) and seventh in pinch-hit home runs (15). He played in 57 games for Seattle last year, hitting .282 with two home runs and 12 RBI. Traded to San Diego at the trade deadline, he was 4-for-28 (.143) without driving in a run for the Padres.

Hansen, who was released by the Chicago Cubs late in spring training, signed a minor league deal with the Seattle Mariners on Thursday. The pinch-hitter/corner infielder plans to join the M's Triple-A Tacoma affiliate in Salt Lake before the weekend.

In 106 at-bats last season, Hansen batted .245 with two homers and 12 RBI for Seattle and San Diego.
