Tom Glavine

7/3/2006

Glavine was selected to his 10th All-Star team Sunday as one of the eight starting pitchers on the National League roster. He is 11-2 with a 3.34 ERA this season.

6/18/2006

Glavine became the first pitcher in the majors to win 10 games this season when he won his eighth game in a row for the Mets in a 9-4 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday. The left-hander yielded four runs and nine hits with six strikeouts in six innings of the win to improve to 10-2 with a 3.48 ERA.

6/8/2006

Glavine won his seventh consecutive for the Mets when he yielded six runs and seven hits in 5 1-3 innings of a 9-7 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday. It was his shortest outing of the season, but the left-hander has received increased run support and bullpen help this season.

5/27/2006

Glavine won his sixth consecutive start, allowing three runs and six hits with nine strikeouts in 7 2-3 innings of a 7-4 victory over the Florida Marlins on Saturday. The 40-year-old left-hander has a 2.43 ERA with 30 strikeouts in 40 2-3 innings during the winning streak.

9/25/2005

Glavine tossed eight innings of four-hit ball against the Washington Nationals Saturday for a 5-2 win, the 274th of his career. The victory, his 12th of the year, moved him past Red Ruffing at 29th on the all-time wins list.

8/23/2005

Glavine was excellent against Arizona on Monday, going eight innings while giving up only one run, five hits and a walk in the Mets' 4-1 victory. Over his last four starts, the veteran lefthander is 3-1 with a 2.40 ERA in 30 innings pitched.

6/4/2005

Glavine picked up career win No. 266 on Saturday, as the New York Mets defeated the San Francisco Giants, 5-1. Glavine ties Bob Feller and Eppa Rixley for 32nd place on the all-time career wins list.

5/27/2005

Glavine sprained the middle finger on his right hand while diving for a ball in Tuesday's loss to the Atlanta Braves and has been receiving treatment over the past couple of days. Since the injury is to his non-pitching hand, the Mets' hurler plans to be ready for his start against the Florida Marlins on Sunday.

5/4/2005

After surrendering seven runs on 12 hits in his previous outing, Glavine's struggles continued in Tuesday's loss to the Philadelphia Phillies, as he allowed eight runs -- seven earned -- on six hits and six walks in just 3.2 innings of work. The Mets' veteran lefthander dropped to 1-4 on the season and saw his ERA jump to 7.04.

The 39-year-old Glavine has battled control issues all season, allowing 39 hits and walking 22 batters in 30.2 innings. His best years appear to be behind him.
